Description & Services
| Service Details | - Builds and rehabilitates, simple, decent houses with the help of homeowner families and donated labour, money and materials - Homes are sold to families with no down payment required and are financed with affordable mortgages |
| Eligibility | 1.) Housing Need: - Must have children under the age of 18 living at home - Current housing is substandard, does not meet their needs, or rent is more than 40% of total gross family income - Must have been resident of Canada and lived in the Central Okanagan for at least two years prior to applying - Program intended for families who have not previously owned a home 2.) Ability to Pay: - Income must meet Low Income Cut-off published by the Provincial Government. - At least one adult member of the family employed full-time and year round - Manageable debts (balance between income & debt) - If family has experienced bankruptcy, must have been discharged for two years 3.) Willingness to partner: - Families agree to complete 500 hours of volunteering with Habitat - Agree to keep home and yard in good condition - Agree to follow all policies of a New Home Ownership Agreement |
