Description & Services
Service Details | “We aim to provide harm reduction, prevention and education resource, and supportive services that focus on individual and community health and wellness to anyone living with, affected by, or at risk of HIV, Hep C, or related health issues. We provide community and individual education, client support, outreach services, harm reduction services (including safer sex supplies, safer smoking/injection supplies, fentanyl-strip testing, STI testing, sharps disposal, Naloxone kits and training), menstrual products, and some nutritional support. We also have programming, resources, and support specifically for GBQT2MSM (the Men's Health Initiative). LPRC believes that harm reduction promotes and supports the health and well-being of both individuals and communities. We believe that all humans have the right to comprehensive, non-judgmental services based on individual need, and that everyone deserves equity in accessibility. Through education and prevention efforts, we work to reduce the risk of harms to individuals and the community. Harm Reduction Workshops: LPRC provides education to groups or individuals. Our workshops are fun, interactive, and informative, and include topics such as HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections, stigma, safer body art, overdose recognition and response, LGBTQ2S+ topics, inclusivity and destigmatizing, and harm reduction for sex and/or substance use. All our workshops are free of charge, tailored to the needs of the participants, and can vary in length to suit your schedule. Living Positive Resource Centre strives to create a safer space, sex positive and inclusive environment during our workshop. STI Testing: We offer a STI testing service for anyone on the last Tuesday of every month, between 2PM to 4PM, out of our office space. We also provide a testing service (PRICK!) that’s specifically for gay, bi, queer, trans, two-spirit, and other men who have sex with men on the third Thursday of every month, between 6PM to 9PM at the Rutland Aurora Health Centre. Both services are confidential and free, and include a full STI screening. To ensure your spot, or to get more information, please use the details above. |
Hours | Drop In Hours: Monday to Friday, 2PM – 4PM. Snacks, harm reduction supplies, menstrual products, drug checking services, and other items are available for pick up during this time. *subject to availability, as some products are donation-based*” |
