Description & Services

Service Details - Wide variety of supports and referrals available at your local MCFD office, online (via the Autism Spectrum Disorder website), and over the phone from Autism Support Specialists  
- Two Autism Funding Programs available (Autism Funding - Under Age 6 and Autism Funding - Ages 6-18) available in all service delivery areas of the province that allow families maximum choice and flexibility and are intended to assist parents in purchasing intervention services that best suit their child’s needs
Eligibility - General supports open to all families with children who have been diagnosed with ASD or who think their child might have ASD/want to learn more about ASD 
- For funding, families with children under age 6 are eligible for up to $22,000 of autism funding per year and families of children aged 6-18 are eligible for up to $6,000 per year
How to Apply If your child has been diagnosed with ASD, and you wish to enroll in the Autism Funding Program, contact your local Ministry of Children and Family Development office to complete a funding agreement 
 
Autism Funding: Under Age 6 program: 
- assists in purchasing eligible autism intervention services and therapies 
- intervention programs for a young child with ASD must be based on a plan that takes into consideration the child’s unique strengths and needs and best practices 
- this behavioural plan of intervention is written by a Behaviour Consultant 
- parents must select Behaviour Consultants, Physiotherapists, Speech Language Pathologists and Occupational Therapists from the Registry of Autism Service Providers 
 
Autism Funding: Ages 6-18 program: 
- provides families up to $6,000 per year per child to assist them with the cost of purchasing eligible autism intervention services and therapies outside of school  
- this funding is in addition to the educational program and special education services provided through school boards
