Service Details | -Volunteer-run organization that provides free support to mothers or caregivers in crisis and ongoing support to low-income mothers/caregivers and their children in overcoming the negative impacts of poverty. -Supports women who have experienced pregnancy and/or infancy loss. -Runs a donation program that includes a sustainable nourishment hamper program, distribution, and emergency support; mothers can access such items as food, clothing, and baby formula, diapers, toiletries, school supplies, and equipment. -The Whole Mama wellness program is a facilitated course over eight weeks where mothers learn how to practice positive self-care, find time for proper nutrition, exercise, and sleep; learn about meal planning and budgeting; education and employment/entrepreneur training; free clinical counselling support is available. -Mamas For Mamas mental health and wellness program provides subsidized access to registered mental health professionals and trauma counselling. -The Young Mama/Teens At Risk program focuses on supporting young at-risk mothers to obtain life skills and parenting support; includes life skills such as budgeting and cooking with a mentor on a one-to-one basis. -The Mamas for Mamas At-Risk program provides referrals to community resources such as dental care, housing, child care, mental health and social support services with access to a registered social worker. - Serves the Okanagan region. -Nonprofit organization, registered charity. |
