Description & Services
Service Details | Funded by BC Housing and the Central Okanagan Foundation, our Community Roots team works in collaboration with other community agencies in order to best meet the needs of people experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of homelessness. Our team provides recovery-oriented and harm reduction focused case management and housing support to complex and vulnerable individuals. Caseloads are small (10-25 max) in order to provide quality services to our community’s most at-risk and marginalized individuals. Referrals to our case management team are made through our community's Coordinated Access table, after an initial needs assessment has been completed. To refer yourself or someone you are supporting to our case management team, please submit a Supportive Housing Registration (SHR) Service Form through BC Housing. Prevention/Diversion Short term financial assistance can be provided for up to 3 months. Rent Supplements are funded by BC Housing and are provided as a timely option for individuals and families who are at risk of homelessness and do not have sufficient funds to maintain their housing. Rent Supplements are intended to provide a top up to rent or provide “bridge” funds that will help keep an individual housed. Applicants are required to provide proof of income and be willing to work with a Navigator on a post-supplement plan for housing stability. Outreach Services The CMHA outreach team provides basic needs such as food, clothing and tenting supplies, to those who are sheltering outdoors. The outreach team may also assist individuals with housing applications or accessing other community resources. To get connected to the outreach team please contact the main office at 250-861-3644. |
