Description & Services

Service Details - Seniors First BC is a charitable, non-profit society that provides information, advocacy, and support to older adults across BC who are dealing with issues affecting their well-being, as well as those who care for them. 
- Our programs are delivered through our Seniors Abuse and Information Line (SAIL), Legal Programs, Victim Services, and Education/Outreach. 
 
- Seniors Abuse and Information Line (SAIL) 
Speak confidentially to professional intake worker about concerns for the well-being of a senior, receive information, and learn about our programs. Call 1-866-437-1940 8am to 8pm on weekdays and 10am to 5:30pm on weekends. Language interpretation available. 
 
- Legal Programs 
We offer free legal advice to eligible low-income older adults (55+) in BC through our Elder Law Clinic, Community Legal Clinics, Advance Planning Clinics, and Legal Advocacy Program. Language interpretation available. 
 
- Victim Services 
Our community-based Victims Services program provides telephone-based, province-wide support to older adults 50+ who have experienced crime and/or abuse. Language interpretation available. 
 
- Public Education and Outreach 
Our workshops raise awareness about elder abuse and provide older adults with strategies to protect their rights. We deliver workshops by request to service providers and to the public. Visit our website to learn about our workshop topics and upcoming events.
Hours 8am to 8pm weekdays and 10am to 5:30pm weekends.

- Language Interpretation is Available for our services
Languages American Sign Language (ASL) ; Interpretive Services - All languages are available through interpretation. ; Language interpretation is available during all operating hours through our Seniors Abuse and Information Line. We ask callers to indicate at the start of the call the language in which they need support if they can do so, otherwise to stay on the line so that we can connect them with the appropriate language interpreter.
