Description & Services
Service Details S.T.O.P. consists of ten units during which time participants meet with the program counselor weekly over 15 weeks. S.T.O.P. includes group, individual, and couples counselling as well as peer support. The program is designed to teach techniques that can be used to address violence in relationships and to promote personal growth. 
STOP includes: 
- Identifying abuse & abusive behaviours 
- Understand emotions, emotional regulation, and toxic shame 
- Learn how anger manifests physically, emotionally, and behaviourally 
- Learn how to avoid becoming by strong emotions and other coping strategies 
- Awareness of triggers and building relapse prevention skills 
- Learning effective communication 
- Learn the effects of abuse on partners and children 
- Building self-esteem, positive thinking and creating positive choices  
- Learn about empathy and understanding 
- Learn to be accountable and responsible for behaviours
Eligibility Any adult can be referred or self-refer to the program. The program is increasingly being accessed by a growing number of referral sources across the province including RCMP, MCFD, Community Corrections, Correctional Services Canada, Interior Health, treatment centers, law offices and many others.
