Description & Services
| Service Details | STOP consists of ten units that are explored with expert program facilitators, and each series will include a voluntary partners’ meeting for the partners of participants, and counselling sessions. The program is designed to teach techniques that can be used to address violence in relationships and to promote personal growth. STOP includes: - Identify abuse and abusive behaviours - Understand emotions - Learn how anger manifests itself physically, emotionally, and behaviourally - Learn how to avoid being overwhelmed by anger or other emotions - Awareness of triggers before they result in violence - Learn effective communication - Self-esteem and positive thinking - Learn the effects of abuse on partners and children - Learn about empathy and understanding - To be accountable and responsible for behaviours - Understand toxic shame - Relapse prevention - Create positive “I” messages - Encourage making positive choices - Reminder that violence is always a choice |
| Eligibility | Ages: 19 year(s) - 99 year(s) Any adult can register to participate. Service providers can also make referrals. The program is increasingly being accessed through a growing number of referral sources including the RCMP, MCFD, Community Corrections, Correctional Services Canada, Interior Health, treatment centres, law offices and more.
