This means we now have awesome volunteer opportunities to offer creative, environmentally conscientious individuals who believe as we do, that everyone needs a safe, decent and affordable place to call home. Is that you?
We welcome you to come in on the ‘ground floor,’ and join us at our West Kelowna warehouse, as we get underway with this new venture. You’ll be invited to share your creativity and skills with us, as we reimagine, refinish, and repurpose items that have been diverted from the landfill for resale.
Don’t feel particularly crafty, but like the positive impact, the Up Project will bring to our community and the environment? You’re invited to join our team too – we’ll have fun opportunities for you as well. In addition, while working as part of the Up Project team, you may find yourself picking up some creative skills of your own.
What’s the impact you will make? The proceeds from the resale of the goods produced at the Up Project will go toward Habitat Okanagan projects. By partnering with us, you will build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter for deserving families in the Okanagan. A very worthy cause!
If you have any friends or neighbours who might enjoy these crafty, imaginative and artistic projects too, we would be grateful if you could let them know about this great volunteer opportunity.
The Repair Café is a free event where people who have things to be repaired can come and learn how to repair them from a fix-it specialist—for free! It’s a fun event, celebrates re-use and recycling, and you get to hang out with like minded volunteer fixers. If you’re able to fix one or two things or a whole bunch of things email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call the Waste Reduction Office at 250.469.6250.
Please note that this event runs periodically throughout the year, so if the above noted date has passed, please call us and we will be happy to have you join us for the next event date!
